Hair. Besides the hair on your head, talking about hair anywhere else on the body that is not on your head isn't the most attractive of conversations. In fact, in some respects (or most of mine), it can be a pretty embarrassing situation just talking about hair elsewhere on my body, never mind people actually noticing that I'm not a fair haired Goddess (oh the dream) and what's EVEN worse is when someone is actually thoughtless enough to point out and comment on an insecurity because THEY think it's odd and they want to point it out to you like you never noticed it yourself before. Being from an Asian background, body hair was a common trait. I knew that... But society didn't!
I wanted to write this post and tell people the struggle of growing up & having to battle with the constant removal of hair. I remember being much younger and googleing 'Why am I so hairy compared to my friends' & I must have gotten 1,000 hits talking about guys & their body hair. No mention of women at all! It was virtually impossible to find an answer that would put my mind at ease. Of course, now being older... I know that it really just is down to genes & there actually isn't anything wrong with me!
Hair. It's a wonderful curse. Big brows & long luscious waist length hair can be the envy for some, but stubble ridden legs & oh so noticeable peach fuzz has been the bane of my life since I was about 10 years old.
Over the last 6 months I've taken much more of an interest in looking after my skin and putting together a skincare routine that didn't solely consist of soap & water (so so bad, I know!). Turning 25 was life's little kick up the ass for me to start taking better care of myself and since then I've out together a nice little routine tried and tested products. Before I got my act together, I only ever cleansed my skin when using my Barefaced. A little moisturiser here & there, but no toner or serums in sight!
The Magnitone Barefaced cleansing brush, however, has been in my life for well over a year now and it was probably this product that was my introduction into the realm of beauty. Although it was a slow start, I finally got there in 2017! You can read my full review & results for the Barefaced HERE
After having such good results with the Barefaced cleansing brush, I was really keen to try out the Magnitone Wipeout cleansing cloth & was really lucky to have been sent one to review. I'm all for adding things into my little cleansing routine now, so putting this to the test was exciting! I have to admit, I was a little skeptical at first as the Wipeout claims to only need water to remove ALL make up (yup, even the oil based stuff) & a cleanser isn't needed in the slightest!
I wanted to put the cloth to the ultimate test, so I piled on some knowingly stubborn to remove make up; a thick winged liner and red lip combo should do it! I dunked it in some water, gave it a little wring out & went in for the kill with, tackling the lippy first! My initial thought was that a huge red smear would appear across my mouth. But it didn't! Not going to lie, I was a little disappointed when this didn't happen... I wanted to use that image for the thumbnail on my video haha! I then went for the brows and the eyeliner & it literally wiped off with such ease! No Panda eyes! The cloth itself is super soft and you don't need to rub hard at all, making it perfect for sensitive skin!

WIN THE MAGNITONE BAREFACED CLEANSING BRUSH AND WIPEOUT CLEANSING CLOTH FOR YOU AND A FRIEND!
We all have our favourite wardrobe staples that are our go to key pieces day in & day out. Those perfect items of clothes that we can slip on & instantly feel comfortable in - they never let us down! But more often than not, I'm always hearing someone talk about how uncomfortable they feel when a new situation arises & you're forced to move away from your comfort zone because your regular trusty garms just won't make the cut? I've teamed up with New Look to create two very different looks around one comfy pair of distressed denim jeans (a women's best friend).
If relaxed, laid back looks are your thing, then stepping out the house each day in an outfit like this on above will be pretty relatable. I don't think a day goes by when I'm not longing to be in my trainers and high waisted jeans if I'm not already in them. I always like to leave the house looking like I've made a little effort, even in a casual day to day outfit like this (is this just a blogger thing, let me know?). The ruffles on this cute white basic tee definitely add a touch of Spring to the outfit & you can never go wrong with a basic white tee.
But what happens when your basic tee & denim combo isn't enough?
The best styling tip I could give to someone would be to take an item of clothing you feel the most comfortable in & to play around with the other elements in the outfit to change up the feel of the outfit. For a touch of chic I took my own advice and ran with it! It's hard to replace jeans because lets face it, they're the sh*t and they're even harder to replace if its the one type of clothing that you feel the most comfortable in - so instead I switched my kicks for some sassy pink stilettos and added a statement jacket along with my trusty ol' fedora & I instantly felt like a glam lil chica.
The casual base of my outfit remained the same, making this the the perfect day to night outfit. Fitting for those after work drinks that will be a regular thing now that the sun is making an appearance again!
New Look have some amazing distressed denim jeans in rn, so I've complied just a few of my faves for you! Just click on your fave pair & let the internet do the rest!
The Hair Salon. A place where split ends come to die, roots are buried underneath glossy new colour and the gossip rolls off the tongue your stylist becomes your absolute fave agony Aunt. We all love the trip down to the hair salon - whether it's a quick 50 minute trim or a 3 hour colour correcting visit. Regardless, it's a place where the magic happens and you leave feeling like a million bucks & the inner sass queen comes out in full force. A good salon deserves raving about & an even better one deserves a blog post!
I headed down into Manchester a couple of weeks ago to visit the Melissa Timperley salon after I had been invited down to see and experience what the beautiful salon had to offer first hand. The salon is located in the heart of Manchester's beloved Northern Quarter, in a perfectly prime spot for a post work hair fix.
The finer details really matter when it comes to first impressions and the interior of this salon did not disappoint and it is without a doubt every bloggers dreams - Instagrammable? HELL YES! With a delicate colour scheme of monochrome & lashes of teal, the modern salon & trendy salon felt right at home in the NQ!
My Hair
I can be quite an all round fussy individual in life and not just about my hair - in fact, I become a tad more protective over my locks more than anything else and my perfectionist nature comes out in full force. I'm sure we've each had our own horrific experiences sat in that salon chair in the past - and I'm sure it has left some us less trusting towards new stylists, or even trying out new hair styles, cuts & colours! That's why visiting a new salon for me can be quite a nerve wracking experience. A number of questions always run through my mind whilst sat in that chair: Will they chop too much off? Will they cut into my layers enough? Have they parted my hair exactly how I like it? My hair is my comfort blanket, it's my favourite feature and I'm allowing someone else to have control over my entire appearance - it's a pretty big deal! But when I sat down in front of Melissa I was instantly put at ease and felt relaxed about the next hour ahead.
Melissa did something that not many stylists seem to do and I think more stylists should do!
I never go to wild with my hair. Grown out bangs & layered locks have long been my beloved haircut for well over a decade now. But a simple haircut isn't always fail safe to say the least. Melissa talked me through my current hair cut and showed me what aspects of my style needed improvement, what would work and why it would work. Talking through how much length would be cut off and in my case, it was a little more than I wanted. But due to my hair length needing to be corrected due to a very uneven bottom layer, the only option was to go ahead and chop a little more off than I had initially planned. I have to say it felt 100x better knowing that we had discussed more hair being cut away rather than experiencing that bang of shock when you catch a glimpse of the pile of your hair on the floor.
My hair was styled super smooth & sleek, pretty much how I wear it most days, but this was so we could go over & find any imperfections & being the Queen of perfectionism myself - this was a dream come true! No uneven layers hereeee! I also have a cowlick on the right hand side of my hair line which can be pretty damn annoying as it often creates a split in my bangs. Melissa taught me how to dry this correctly (brush it in every direction possible when drying to allow the hair to sit naturally in place) - something which no other stylist has ever done before! Being told little tips and tricks about how to style your own hair is vital and so important to be able to maintain that salon style hair everyday!
